Our OVens

The history of wood-fired ovens spans millennia, originating with the ancient Greeks who developed rudimentary clay ovens. Romans refined the design, spreading its use throughout their empire for baking various foods. Throughout the Middle Ages, these ovens became commonplace in European kitchens, evolving to include chimneys for better temperature control. Colonial America saw the tradition carried across the seas by European settlers, influencing frontier kitchens. With the Industrial Revolution, wood-fired ovens waned in popularity but persisted in traditional communities.
